Noosa Heads, QLD

Located on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Noosa offers something for everyone. Known for having some of the best longboard breaks in the world, Noosa offers long and easy waves, enjoyable for all levels. Two of the main surf points, Tea Tree Bay and Granite Bay, are local favourites, but if you’re a beginner the long and gentle waves of main beach are your best bet. If you need a break from surfing, Hastings Street along the beach offer shops, restaurants and accommodation.

The Pass at Byron Bay, NSW

You can’t talk about Aussie surf beaches without talking about Byron Bay. While Byron Bay has plenty of beaches to choose from, The Pass (located at the end of Clarkes Beach) is hands-down one of Australia’s best surf spots. The main beach at Byron is great for beginners, but if you’re feeling confident The Pass is the place to be. It has some of the best breaks on the North Coast, making it a popular surf spot. If you find that The Pass is too busy, head 30 minutes south to Lennox Head for more great surf. Lennox Head is a National Surf Reserve – meaning it has quality and consistent waves, is considered sacred among the surf community, and has been a surf area for decades, so you know it’s good! From beginners to pros, Byron Bay has something for everyone.

Prevelly Bay, Margaret River, WA

The best surf beaches aren’t just limited to the East Coast of Australia. Undoubtedly one of Western Australia’s best beaches, Prevelly Bay is internationally known for its surf.  Once a tiny outback town, Margaret River has grown into a region known for its adventure – and Prevelly Bay is the reason. The Drug Aware Margaret River Pro, one of the world’s best surf competitions, brings in top-ranked surfers to surf these extraordinary waves. It’s also one of the few places you’ll find surfers wearing helmets – with swells of up to six metres and jagged rocks nearby it’s no surprise! Not quite a pro surfer yet?
