Day 1

Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park

With its many festivals and great live music scene, South Australia’s state capital prides itself on being Australia’s arts hub – but we love it just as much for its proximity to some of the world’s most amazing natural scenery. We head out of the city pretty early on day 1, stopping for a quick coffee in Clare, and then continuing on to Mount Remarkable National Park. Enjoy a stretch of your legs with a hike through Alligator Gorge.

We’ll have some lunch then continue travelling into Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park. Once arrived at our camp at Wilpena Pound Resort, we’ll be greeted with a Welcome to Country. Appreciate this important cultural ceremony and learn about the local Adnyamathanha people through their traditional songs and stories. Then kick back, relax and soak up the incredible natural surroundings as we share our first group dinner. Once darkness falls, be amazed by the astonishing starry sky as you settle into your swag.

Day 2

Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park

After a breakfast amongst our serene surroundings, we’ll get started on our first hike for the day along the Hills Homestead Walk to Wilpena Pound. This awe-inspiring range is a hidden treasure of the Australian Outback, often overlooked by Aussies and visitors because of its remote location. But once you take in the unbelievable views from Wangara Lookout, we’re sure you’ll join Wilpena Pound’s growing list of fans.

We’ll head back to camp for lunch and cool down in the resort pool before exploring the area further with a second hike. We set out along the Arkaroo Rock Trail to discover Adnyamathanha rock art and admire the stunning views of the Chace Range. In the evening, relax by the pool before another night of stargazing.

It’s time to head south, starting the journey to the Eyre Peninsula with some enjoyable stops along the way. Admire the unique art of the Jeff Morgan Gallery and the silo galleries of Cowell. In the afternoon we’ll arrive in Port Lincoln, aka the Seafood Capital of Australia, where we have some time to explore the small coastal town. Then we make our way to our campsite in Bayview Park. Enjoy the sunset by the ocean at a nearby beach before dinner, then count the satellites passing overhead as you drift off in your swag.

Day 4

Port Lincoln and Mikkara Station

Day four starts enjoying one of Australia's best-loved sports - surfing! You'll enjoy a 2-hour lesson on the waves of Fisheries Bay, a sheltered area with smaller waves perfect for beginners. If you're not keen on hitting the water, you'll have free time to explore to relax on the beach. We’ll all meet up for lunch then enjoy a stunning coastal drive along Whaler’s Way before heading back to Mikkira Station.

Home to around 170 wild koalas, Mikkira Station offers a unique chance to connect with Australian wildlife, and today you will have the opportunity to show your appreciation to these adorable mammals. We’ll spend the afternoon volunteering and helping with conservation efforts such as planting manna gum trees (an essential food source for fussy koalas), collecting or propagating seeds, or clearing weeds. It’s an amazing chance to give back to one of Australia’s best-known animals.

Day 5

Aquatic Adventures or Coffin Bay

Today you are offered two very different itineraries depending on your love affair with fear! If you are seeking a major adrenalin rush you can choose the optional experience of Shark Cage Diving with Great White Sharks. Port Lincoln is the only place in Australia and one of only five in the world you can come face to face with this incredible creature. A highlight of the tour today - you’ll have the opportunity to swim, snorkel and splash about with playful sea lions and dolphins on a 3-hour cruise in the calm and sheltered waters of Baird Bay.

For the land-lovers out there, keen to keep dry, we have an alternative itinerary that explores the beautiful coastline of the Eyre Peninsula. Enjoy a stunning coastal hike along part of the Parkalla Trail then relax and cool off with a swim on one of Coffin Bay’s pristine beaches. We visit Coffin Bay Oyster Farm, where you will have the chance to taste the famous briny molluscs straight off the rock. Then wash them down with a stop at Boston Bay Wines to sample locally produced vinos.

In the evening, we meet back up to tuck into one of the best fish and chips you will ever have on the pier before we head back to Mikkira Station for our last night swag camping.

You’ll be amazed by the panoramic views over Boston Bay and Lincoln National Park once you reach the summit of Stamford Hill. Tuck into a delicious BBQ lunch then enjoy the relaxing ferry journey across the Spencer Gulf. After the 2.5 hour trip, we’ll arrive back on land for the final leg of our journey back to Adelaide. Although there are no formal activities planned it is usual for the group to get together and reflect on their adventure together over a few drinks and meal (at own expense).
