Why to choose a Campervan when travelling the East Coast in Australia

If you are planning your trip to travel the East Coast and thing about the transport you will use, this blog will help you to decide if a camper will be your best option.

First if you are short on time to travel and just want to tick the big cities from your bucket list, bus and flight might be your best option. But if you want to travel at your own pace and discover the local side of Australia with its small towns or parks that no one ever heard about, a campervan is totally your type of adventure!

There is a lot of stunning places that should be on your bucket list that require to be on a tour to see or self-drive as Greyhound or other public transport will not have easy access to.  Examples of this on the East Coast of Australia is the beautiful Great Ocean Road which is arguably the most scenic drive in Australia as well as the Grampians National Park where you will be surrounded by mountains with possibilities of great hiking for any type of level.  Day tours will suit well any traveller short on time to see the highlights of each destination but if you are a nature lover, you will need at least 3 days to explore all the area.

Wilson Promontory National Park is another great place to drive to with a campervan. A combination of bush walks, stunning beach walks and mountain hikes, you will need more than a day to see the most of it. Really popular for the locals, this great place is not as known for the tourist, which is another great reason to explore.

if you want to travel at your own pace and discover the local side of Australia with its small towns or parks that no one ever heard about, a campervan is totally your type of adventure!

Driving up to Sydney, you cannot miss the breath taking white sandy beaches and the national park of Jervis Bay, then passing by the scenic Grand Pacific Drive from Wollongong to Sydney, another route that Greyhound does not have access to.

New South Wales has great varieties of landscapes between beaches, mountains and waterfalls, tunnels and rivers.  Between the Blue Mountains, Port Stephens, Night Cat National Park, and the spectacular rock formation of Mount Kaputar National Park, you won’t have any boring days while driving either way!

Once in Queensland, you will be amazed by all the luscious forests and waterfalls to explore.  From the south with the scenic Springbrook National Park, travelling up North toward the Atherton Tablelands and making sure you are not missing on the historic Daintree oldest rainforest in Cape Tribulation, you won’t have a moment to regret your choice of travel in a campervan!
Another tip for your journey in Queensland, if you pass by 1770/ Agnes Waters, you will enjoy not worrying to catch a bus which only travels during night time.

Do you believe now that a camper van is for you?

There are few more tips before you make your final decision. First, you need to know that choosing a camper as transport should be mainly for your desire of freedom and adventure, and not believing it will be the best way to save money. Choosing bus and hostel as accommodation could have similar price but be a different experience, so make sure you choose a camper for the right reasons.

Staying in a campsite at night may not have the same comfort as a hostel, but has a great social aspect, everyone likes to catch up and exchange their road trip stories and best recommendations. Waking up with the sound of birds in the nature feels also more peaceful than by other travellers being noisy, snoring and turning on the lights at all hours of the night.

So, if you are adventure driven and like to see what not every other travellers have seen like the local festivals untouched beaches and its wildlife, then a camper van experience is definitely for you!
