Things to do in Phillip Island

Whether you’re looking for a great spot to surf, a perch to view a certain “Penguin Parade”, or looking for somewhere to enjoy some of the region’s world renowned produce, there is always something to do in Phillip Island

So what is it about “Philly” that makes it such a popular spot for day trippers and holiday makers alike?

Stunning beaches abound

Phillip Island has remained relatively untouched by the Melbourne seachangers, and this means it still retains that incredible natural beauty that makes it such a worthwhile visit. One of the Island’s natural drawcards is its abundance of beautiful beaches, perfect for swimming, surfing, sunbathing and snorkelling.

From Wooloomai’s potential for both surf and swim, to Kitty Miller Bay’s wondrous snorkelling adventures, to Smiths Beach’s calmer surf for beginners, Phillip Island has a beach for everyone.

See the Penguin Parade

The Penguin Parade has always been a must-do for families making their way to Phillip Island. Kids and parents alike delight in the opportunity to see the world’s largest little penguin colony return from sea. But a visit to Summerland Beach isn’t complete without a stop off at The Nobbies, where visitors enjoy breathtaking ocean views (as well as that of some 25,000 fur seals, one of the largest colonies in Australia!).

Visit the Koala Reserve

If the joy of seeing seals and penguins in their natural habitat isn’t enough for your wildlife loving fancy, you can also make a stop at the Koala Conservation Reserve, where you will get to walk treetop boardwalks and see these furry little friends in their natural habitat. The reserve is also home to an abundance of birds, echidnas and wallabies, making it a truly exciting place to visit when on Phillip Island.

Enjoy local produce

Phillip Island is located in Gippsland, a region revered for its wonderful produce. Phillip Island doesn’t skip out on selecting some of this produce for its menus, either, with waterfront restaurants serving up amazing seafood, local wines and delicious desserts. Our picks are Saltwater Phillip Island, Beach HQ and The Cape Kitchen, all serving up the food and drink that makes Gippsland a gastronomical paradise.
