You’ll be stoked to know that yes! You can most certainly do a day trip from Noosa to Fraser Island, driving up along the sublime Rainbow Beach to get to the ferry terminal.

You will need a 4WD with a permit to take on board the ferry and across to Fraser Island, and the same goes if you rent your 4WD for the epic adventure – so remember to pick up that all-important permit or you’ll find yourself being directed back to Noosa Heads!

You’re in for an amazing day, but that being said, a Noosa – Fraser Island day trip is a biggie, and one that won’t allow you to enjoy all of the island’s wondrous activities, but still enough to truly enjoy one of the best day trips this stunning country has to offer!

Here are some of the adventures that await you on gorgeous Fraser Island:

Lake McKenzie

It’s a well known fact that the waters surrounding Fraser Island aren’t ideal for swimming, as they can get pretty rough out of nowhere. But this doesn’t mean there is nowhere to swim on Fraser Island, with the picture-perfect Lake McKenzie offering a divine spot to chill out on shorefront and take a super refreshing dip in the salty waters.

Maheno Shipwreck

Jump in your 4WD and cruise along the magnificent 75 Mile Beach until you come across one of Australia’s most intriguing relics: the Maheno Shipwreck. This wreck has been chillin’ out on the beachfront for some 90-odd years, and is a spectacularly impressive site to behold after driving along such a pristine coastline for some time…

Indian Head

Indian Head is a coastal headland that encompasses some pretty awe-inspiring views. Given the headland rises high above sea level, you will be met by sweeping vistas across the stunning island and into the tropical waters beyond, making for a great place to stroll up and marvel upon the expanse!

Champagne Pools

Another easily-accessible spot (given you’re on a day trip!) on the island are the frothy Champagne Pools, another ideal spot to relax and refresh your senses after seeing some of the more adventurous side of the island…
