Getting to Kangaroo Island

Once you’ve arrived on the island, the best way to explore is by hiring a car. Public transportation on the island is extremely limited, so consider hiring a car. By hiring a car, you’ll have the freedom to explore everywhere at your own pace.

What to see and do

Head to Seal Bay Conservation Park and see Australia’s large sea lion colony. You can stroll through the park on your own, or you can join a knowledgeable guide who will teach you about the fascinating creatures.

Another great place to meet Australian wildlife is at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Here you can see koalas, echidnas and other native wildlife. Please keep in mind this sanctuary can only be visited with a booking.

While visiting the island, you must explore Flinders Chase National Park. The area is home to some of the island’s most well-known landmarks. Admirals Arch is a unique formation, created by weather and spraying ocean water. The arch looks like a cave with stalactites at first glance, but the shapes poking out of the ceiling are actually tree roots. The national park is also home to the Remarkable Rocks. The rocks range in shape and size, perching high above the sea.
