Day 2: Sydney to Port Stephens

Ok, it's time to wake up and explore the Hunter Valley. Here you'll spend the afternoon enjoying many wines and chocolates. The views over the winery are incredible too! It will not be easy to leave this beautiful wine region, but there is more to do today. Next is Port Stephens where you'll stay the night in the Surfside Hostel. This awesome hostel is surrounded by wildlife like kangaroos and some impressive scenery.

But before we hit the hay, we'll hike to the top of Tomaree Head. It's only 2.2km return and you'll not regret doing it. The views of the coastline, Yacabaa Head, Cabbage Tree and Point Stephens Lighthouse will leave you in awe. After we have ventured around Port Stephens, you'll enjoy a real Aussie BBQ dinner (included). It's a great way to get to know each even better.
SLEEP: Surfside Hostel

Day 3: Port Stephens to Port Macquarie

This morning the choice is kind of yours. Relax or be active! You could nap a bit longer, take a dip in the sea or go sandboarding at the Stockton Sand Dunes (own expense). Our next stop is Port Macquarie. We'll have some lunch (own expense) and then head to the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. Here you can get pretty close to our cute Koalas! At the information centre you can learn more about what the hospital does for the koalas.

Day 4: Port Macquarie to Byron Bay

Today we’re driving to laid back Byron Bay. The place to be to relax for days! During our drive to Byron, we’ll check out the stunning Dangar Falls and the historic and hipster town of Bellingen. Here we'll enjoy some lunch (own cost), followed by a special Aboriginal experience at “Niigi Niigi” (Sealy Lookout) where we'll learn more about the First Nations people of Australia. This beautiful spot is nestled within the Orara East State Forest and is owned by the Gumbaynggirr people.

During this 2 hour experience you'll enjoy 360-degree views and listen to beautiful stories, songs and discover their language and the use of native plants. As soon as we're in Byron Bay, we’ll show you around this awesome Aussie town. For the next few nights we’re staying at boutique hostel The Surf House, located right in the heart of Byron and just a couple of hundred metres from the main beach. Oh yes!

Day 5: Byron Bay Free Day

Today and tomorrow are THE days to chill! Check out the local spots, buy a souvenir, surf, swim, sleep and meet the friendly locals. If you're up for it and get yourself out of your bed, do a free yoga class on the rooftop of the hostel. What a way to start the day, hey. What you do after that, is all up to you. Walk to the lighthouse, kayak with dolphins or rent a bike. Byron also has many fun cafes, bars and restaurants. So why not enjoying a tasty lunch or dinner in the city centre. If you're a vegetarian or vegan, you're totally sorted too.
SLEEP: The Surf House or similar

Day 6: Byron Bay Free Day

If you weren't able to do it all yesterday, you'll just do it today. Day 6 is another free day where you can do whatever you feel like. What about another surf day (free surfboard hire at your hostel), skydiving or snorkelling! Don't feel like an active day? No worries, the beach is all around you. On Saturdays Byron hosts the amazing Saturday twilight market for some live music and lots of boutique stalls showcasing local arts, crafts and some fantastic food.

We rather don't want to leave Byron Bay, but our 8 day tour isn't over just yet! We'll be heading north today and stop at Mullumbimby. This town is also called ‘Biggest Little Town of Australia’. Enjoy a coffee, do the sculpture walk or treat yourself with some sweets at the popular chocolate shop. That's not all for today though. Our next stop is the famous Surfers Paradise where we’ll chill out on the beach and have lunch (own cost).

We’ll then stop at a nearby nature reserve to spot some wild kangaroos, before going to Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland. We’ll check out Southbank for a lovely walk along the Brisbane River. 'Brissy' has so many fun bars and restaurants which you can check out after our walk. If you need any recommendations, just ask your guide.
