Things to do in the Grampians

With so much stunning scenery and exciting local culture, it’s no wonder Melbournians, Australians and international tourists flock to this spot at all times of the year!

So what are some of the best activities to enjoy in this perfectly untouched natural wonderland?

Let’s take a look!

Go for epic hikes

The Grampians boasts the most dramatic landscapes near Melbourne, with a variety of stunning spots to keep budding visitors marvelling over for hours. From Victoria’s largest waterfall at Mackenzie Falls to the world famous Boroka Lookout offering 180 degree views to the endless vistas at Reed Look and The Balconies, hiking is easily one of the main draw cards to the Grampians and for awe-inspiringly good reason.

Learn about Indigenous culture

Gariwerd (the local Indigenous name for The Grampians), is an important area for the local Aboriginal community’s stories and culture. What makes this place so special is that it hosts 80% of southern Australia’s Indigenous rock art sites, and visitors have the opportunity to learn about them at Brambuk – The National Park and Cultural Centre at Halls Gap.

Enjoy an easy bush walk with the fam

Venus Baths Loop provides a beautiful and tranquil backdrop to an easy stroll with the family. This 2.3km track may be a quick walk but it offers plenty of variety, with pristine rock pools adding to the charming landscape and plenty of bushlands to enjoy. This a flat and easy walk, making it great for all ages.

Try delicious local wines

Having a weekend away from the kids? Or, do you have no kids at all? Either way, one of the best adult activities to enjoy in The Grampians is local wine tasting. The Grampians has been a wine production region for over 150 years, and has rightfully earned its place as one of the world’s top production areas.

Luckily for us, this makes it the perfect cellar door experience, as the entire region is dotted with fertile vineyards offering tastings of their revered vino. Try the modern cellar door Mount Langi Ghiran or Montara Wines, renowned by wine lovers across the world for its tastings and special events.

It’s the perfect way to top off (or up) your special Grampians getaway!
