There are a multitude of things to do in the Hunter Valley, that don’t necessarily involve drinking wine. Visit some exotic animals at the Hunter Valley Zoo, head out for a walk through the beautiful Hunter Valley Gardens or spend the day bushwalking and mountain bike riding in World Heritage-listed Yengo National Park. If history excites you, learn about the colonial heritage on the convict-built Great North Road or admire ancient Aboriginal rock art and other indigenous Australian culture on the Finchley Cultural Walk.
Hunter Valley Day Tours & Trips from Sydney
With two different day trips from Sydney on offer, we ensure that you will have the time of your life while visiting this beautiful part of Australia. The Hunter Valley Wine and Chocolate Tour will take you on a unique and fun day out in the Hunter Valley that not only features wine tasting, but beer and chocolates as well.
Leaving Sydney in the early morning, you will be picked up from your accommodation and make your way north. Our first destination is The Hunter Valley Chocolate Factory, where you can indulge your tastebuds with samples of their delicious chocolates and fudges, with enough time to grab a coffee and have a look around the town.
For lunch you will head to the rustic Matilda Bay Brewhouse to enjoy a delicious lunch before having ample time to sample their diverse range of ales, lagers and ciders on tap (own expense) as well as having the option of visiting their cellar door for an additional taste of Hunter Valley wines.
The Hunter boasts a selection of Shiraz, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Verdelho as well as being famous for its Semillon. The afternoon will be spent sampling a range of wines from two different winery cellar doors, known for their excellent customer experience and quality wine. Finally, after a full day of sipping, and sampling our way through the Hunter Valley, it’s time to make our way back to Sydney.
The Hunter Valley Day Tour itinerary is very similar, but has a stronger focus on the wines of this spectacular region. You will visit several traditional wineries, where you’ll taste up to twenty different varieties including red, white, sparkling and fortified. Lunch will be a picnic at a winery full of local produce and bakery goods. To conclude the day, you will have an hour free time to find the perfect souvenir in the town, or drink to your hearts content.
