Litchfield is a beautiful national park where you can see and swim in many waterfalls and swimming holes. The waterfalls at Litchfield flow all year round and look the most stunning during the wet season between November to April.

Florence Falls

Florence Falls is the most popular swimming hole in Litchfield. The lookout point is open all year, but swimming is restricted in the wet season due to seasonal weather conditions. But when you can swim, the swimming pool is fantastic and a great way to cool off after doing walks around the area.

The best time to see Florence Falls though is during the wet season as the additional water from the rain adds to the flow of the falls.

Tolmer Falls

Tolmer Falls is one of Litchfield’s tallest waterfalls! You can walk the trail around the rim of the falls, or there is an accessible path to another viewing platform. The best time to see Tolmer Falls is during the wet season to see the magnificent falls flowing. You aren’t able to swim at these falls, but you can have a picnic, go for a walk, and sightsee.

Buley Rockhole

Buley Rockhole is one of the popular streams to swim in. There are small to deeper plunge pools and even shallow rock pools to swim in. You can’t swim in Buley Rockhole due to seasonal weather in the wet season.

Cascades

Cascades have two great swimming spots, the upper and lower section. Quite often the cascades are quiet and if you are lucky, you might have the swimming spot to yourself. Nearby there are picnic tables, so bring along some food and have lunch in between your swims.

Wangi Falls

Wangi Falls is one of Litchfield’s most popular swimming holes. All year the falls flow and you can go swimming during the dry season. Wangi Falls has a large, deep pool where you can swim up to the falls.

The swimming holes which close due to seasonal weather conditions are usually open between May to October. Aside from swimming, you can have a picnic while hearing the water flowing. Or you can do a walk to the viewpoints of the waterfalls. If you’re looking to spend a day seeing the beautiful national park, check out this day tour which also offers a jumping crocodile cruise!
