About 50 minutes from Sunshine Coast you’ll find the impressive Noosa Everglades, one of the two Everglades systems in the world!

You will only need a few hours to a day exploring the gorgeous Noosa Everglades. The best way to discover the Everglades is by going on a cruise or a guided tour. You can even just hire a canoe or kayak and journey by yourself.

You can expect to do some bird watching as Noosa Everglades is home to about 44% of Australia’s bird species. There are also over 1300 plant species you can spot as you explore the Everglades.

River canoe

Paddle upstream through the river in a Canadian-style canoe. You will be paddling through The River of Mirrors, ancient landscapes, and the sub tropical rainforest.
If you don’t have a canoe, you can hire one and all the equipment to start your adventure.

River cruise

Spend the afternoon on a cruise through the Noosa River system. This cruise allows you to observe the scenery around you and go through waterways. You can try to spot the huge range of birds that call the Everglades their home.

You can book your river cruise early to secure your spot!

Kayak

Similar to canoeing, kayaking is a great way to explore the river system in Noosa Everglades. You can go with a group and a guide, or set out on your own and hire a kayak.

As you are kayaking through the sub tropical rainforest, enjoy the scenery around you. You’ll be riding through the water going by the ancient landscapes and the river of mirrors.

Harry’s Hut

When exploring the Noosa Everglades, it’s worth checking out the historic camping area known as Harry’s Hut. The camping area has river access so it’s easy to get to while canoeing or kayaking.

Skydiving

Not quite in the Noosa Everglades, but if you love adrenaline, you can go skydiving! Jump off the plane from 15,000 feet over Noosa and get views of the Sunshine Coast!

As you jump from the plane with your Jumpmaster, you’ll freefall for about a minute going 200 kilometres per hour. When the parachute gets launched, you glide for seven minutes. This is your chance to take in the gorgeous views from up above!

The best way to explore the Noosa Everglades is on a canoe, cruise, or kayak. A great place to start is Lake Cootharaba. You can even swim at this lake, so bring some swimwear if you want to go for a swim! And if you have a bit more time in Noosa, check out the fun shops, the stunning beach(es) and cosy bars.
