If you don’t have a car, a great way to explore Fraser Island (K’gari) is through a tour. When you’re on a tour, you’ll be in a four wheel drive or a bus. This is one of the best ways to see Fraser Island as you don’t need to have your own car.

What do I get to see when on the tour?

All the tours are different, but in most of the tours, you can see some beautiful beaches, lakes, or popular attractions. Tours can range from a one day trip, two day and one night tour, or even a three-day & two-night trip! You’ll travel in a four wheel drive or in a minibus to get around. You’ll also be doing some walking to attractions!

Lake McKenzie

Lake McKenzie, also known as Boorangoora, is a perched lake on Fraser Island. A perched lake is when the water in the lake is only rainwater. The water is a beautiful blue with white sand on the bottom. You’ll want to spend hours at Lake McKenzie just relaxing in the water and on the sand.

Eli Creek

Eli Creek is popular with visitors with picnics and swimming. There is also a nearby boardwalk you can walk across which follows the creek inland. Eli Creek is also the largest freshwater creek on the eastern beach of the island.

Champagne Pools

Visitors love going to Champagne Pools for a swim and to enjoy the jacuzzi like feeling. The pools are like a jacuzzi due to the waves at the ocean coming into the pools creating seafoam. This seafoam is what causes the natural jacuzzi feeling that you’ll love. Aside from that, the water at Champagne Pools is a nice blue and it’s right near the ocean.

Maheno Shipwreck

Maheno Shipwreck has a history surrounding the ship! In 1935, the ship was already retired and got sold to Japan. As the S.S. Maheno was being taken to Japan, the chain broke, leaving the ship to drift on its own. This is how it ended up on Fraser Island at Maheno Beach.

Lake Wabby

Lake Wabby is the deepest lake on the island. Different from other lakes and creeks, Lake Wabby’s water is deep green. There are even some fish swimming in these waters and has about 12 different species of fish. If you don’t fancy swimming, there are a few walks to Lake Wabby or to view the lake from a platform.

There are still so many beautiful places and attractions to visit when at Fraser Island. We also recommend you go to the 75 Mile Beach and Indian Head. Just remember to book your tour ahead of time so you get preferred travel dates!
