The Staircase to the Moon is a unique natural phenomenon that occurs in Broome. The full moon shining above the tidal flats of the Pilbara and Kimberley Coastline creates the appearance of a staircase that leads to the moon. Hence the name “Staircase to the Moon”!

2. Search for dinosaur prints

On the western side Broome, you can go searching for dinosaur prints!

The best places to look are along Gantheaume Point, James Price Point, and Dampier Peninsula. You can find tracks from roughly seven different dino species dating all the way back to the Cretaceous Period. How cool is that?!

Broome is home to a well-maintained Japanese Cemetery that dates back to the late 1800s. The large obelisks commemorate over 900 Japanese pearlers who were often out at sea between the late 1800s to the early 1900s.

5. Watch a movie at Sun Pictures

Sun Pictures is a cinema that has a long history in Broome. It has been around so long, that it used to screen silent films starting in 1916! There is plenty of history to take in when visiting this movie theatre. From the historic Hollywood sign and movie posters to the old movie projector found in the foyer.
