Day 1 – Perth to Margaret River

Welcome to day one of the 6 Day Esperance & Margaret River tour! We’ll start our journey south, making our first stop at FAWNA, a wildlife rehabilitation non-profit. You will have two hours to participate in volunteer work and care for injured or orphaned wildlife. Tasks vary to include cleaning and gardening. This is a great opportunity to learn about the wildlife in the region and meet other passionate volunteers.

Next, the tourist town of Busselton is where we will enjoy delicious coffee. A bit further along, we’ll enjoy a quick lunch and a swim at Meelup Beach before we start our first hike of the tour through the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park. In the afternoon we visit the Ngilgi Caves where you’ll have the chance to explore the impressive chambers deep underground. Enjoy an authentic Koomal Dreaming Indigenous experience with Wardandi custodian Josh, including a spellbinding didgeridoo performance underground.

At the end of the day, we’ll tuck into our first dinner together then roll out our swags for our first night of sleeping under the stars.

(Lunch and Dinner included)

Day 2 – Margaret River to Walpole

We get an early start on day two to observe the locals ride the waves at Surfers Point. Then lace up your hiking shoes as we explore one of the most picturesque portions of the Cape to Cape walking trail between Redgate Beach and Contos.

For lunch, we call into Margaret River, where you will have some free time to wander the town and indulge in tasty delights such as cheese, chocolate, beer and wine! There are plenty of wineries to visit and plenty of different temptations on offer surely to please the most discerning palate!

In the afternoon, we continue our journey through the lush forests of Walpole and make a stop at WA’s largest tingle tree. We’ll arrive at our campsite in Peaceful Bay where you can take in a sunset by the ocean before another night sleeping under the stars.

(Breakfast and Dinner included)

Day 3 – Walpole & Albany Region

Then travelling along Western Australia’s answer to Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, you’ll be treated to superb views of sun-bleached boulders, turquoise seas and dramatic red-rock cliffs shaped by eons of crashing waves and rolling tides. Visit the Gap, Natural Bridge, Elephant Rocks and Green Pools for a swim in a sheltered bay.

In the afternoon we visit the oldest mountain range in the world, the unique Porongurups which rise from the landscape like an island. Set out on a two-hour hike through some spectacular forests to Castle Rock which is a bit of a climb but worth every bit of effort as you are rewarded with breathtaking views over the region.

Tonight we stay in our private campsite at Mt Trio in the Stirling Ranges.

(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 4 – Mt Trio to Cape Le Grand National Park

Today we begin with a morning drive along the coast arriving in Esperance, stopping for a swim at the iconic Twilight Beach. Enjoy some free time to look around the charming coastal town. Then, get ready for some of Australia’s most beautiful scenery as there are no less than 9 national parks on this part of the west coast. Today we’re taking in the most spectacular of all – Cape Le Grand National Park. Blue seas and white powder beaches with secluded bays allow strolls and swimming in a nature lovers paradise. The afternoon is free to explore the park however you like – enjoy a bushwalk, chill out on the beach or spend some time with your travel companions. We’ll be camping here for two nights, so take the time to unwind and enjoy this amazing natural treasure on Australia’s south coast.

(Breakfast and dinner Dinner, Swag Camping,  Toilets and Shower Facilities)

Day 5 – Cape Le Grand National Park

After waking up and saying good morning to the local roos, we spend the whole day exploring Cape Le Grand. Enjoy walks and discover the area’s many pristine beaches and coves. The views from the top of Frenchman’s Peak are pretty impressive, so in the evening the top of Frenchman’s Peak is where we go. Taking in the sunset over the Recherche Archipelago from this viewpoint is not to be missed!

(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Swag Camping, Toilets and Shower Facilities)

Day 6 – Return to Perth

On the last day of the trip, we’ll say goodbye to the beauty of Cape Le Grand and begin our journey north back to Perth. This is our biggest day of driving travelling around 10 hours with stops along the way. We visit Wave Rock where we have lunch and get to check out this amazing rock formation. We enjoy an afternoon break at the historical town of York before continuing through the Darling Ranges.

One last stint on the road see’s us arriving in Perth around 6pm and although there are no formal activities planned it is usual for the group to get together and reflect on the big journey together over a few drinks and a meal (at own expense).
