Scenic World
It is safe to say that the Blue Mountains holds a rightful place as Australia’s panoramic paradise.
Scenic World Blue Mountains
Whether it’s hiking up to Echo Point to view the majestic Three Sisters, marvelling upon the cascading Wentworth Falls or gazing across the Grose Valley from Govetts Peak, the Blue Mountains are the perfect place to ponder Australia’s enormity.
And why not ponder it while getting the adrenaline absolutely pumping?
Well, luckily for our thrill seeking travellers – you can.
But how? By heading to Scenic World, of course. Scenic World is one of the ultimate adventure activities in the Blue Mountains: a wonderland of thrilling rides providing breathtaking views of the stunning natural surroundings. Scenic World is an amazing place for families and weekenders alike: if you can handle the extreme heights and steep inclines of their famous rides then this is the perfect Blue Mountains activity.
Let’s take a look at a couple of Scenic World’s intrepid itineraries, and why it should be visited by anyone who wants to get the blood pumping!
The world famous Scenic Railway
The Scenic Railway is the world’s steepest incline railway, operating at angles of 52° (Original) and a steep 64° incline (Cliffhanger). This is one of the most magical ways to the beauty of the Blue Mountains, with this fifth generation incline railway running over a 310 metre course, through a cliff tunnel before finishing on the floor of the Jamison Valley.
It’s the perfect Scenic World intro – before moving onto the more, shall we say, frightening ride…
Test your mettle on the Scenic Skyway
This is a ride for real thrill seekers: a 720 metre long, 270 metre high skyway gliding between the cliffs and above the forest floor. The cabin has the choice of solid, hardwood flooring, or the somewhat terrifying electro-glass bottom, allowing you to see directly below you – the full 270 metres below you! If you can stomach the ride, the Scenic Skyway provides the very best views of the Three Sisters, Katoomba Falls, Mount Solitary and Jamison Valley.
A more gentle ride on the Scenic Cableway
After your thrilling ride on the Scenic Skyway, relax and unwind as you gently descend to the forest floor via the serene Scenic Cableway. This journey provides gorgeous views of the surrounding region, before ascending back to the top of the escarpment – it’s a well-earned, peaceful end to your day of fun and frights at Scenic World!
