The Blue Mountains are a gorgeous, lush mountain range located in New South Wales. There are many things that make this mountain range unique, which is why it is definitely worth visiting!

Where are the Blue Mountains?

The Blue Mountains are located just west of Sydney. The drive from the city centre takes just under two hours. The journey will take you through Sydney’s western suburbs and into the gorgeous Blue Mountains National Park. Some of the towns you’ll pass through include Wentworth Falls, Leura, and Katoomba.

What is there to do in the Blue Mountains?

From animal spotting to the spectacular scenery, there is plenty to do in the Blue Mountains.

Echo Point Lookout

Echo Point Lookout is one of the most popular lookouts because it is where you can view the iconic Three Sisters. This famous rock formation is one of the most recognisable symbols of the Blue Mountains. When viewing photos of the Blue Mountains, you have probably seen a photo of the Three Sisters!

Wildlife spotting

The Blue Mountains get their name from the blue hue that hovers in the air. This comes from the eucalyptus trees that release eucalyptus oil from their leaves. As you may notice, the mountains are covered in eucalyptus trees!

Where there are eucalyptus trees, there are probably koalas. While walking through the Blue Mountains, be sure to keep an eye out for koalas tucked into the branches of the eucalyptus trees.

Scenic World

Scenic World is another large attraction to visit in the Blue Mountains. It is a fun and unique way to view the mountains from a range of different perspectives. The Scenic Railway takes you deep into the Blue Mountains, along the forest floor. Meanwhile, the Scenic Skyway and Scenic Cableway carry you high above the Blue Mountains and across the vast Jamison Valley.

Prince Henry Cliff Walk

One of the most scenic hikes in the Blue Mountains is the Prince Henry Cliff Walk. The cliff walk is dotted with lookouts, offering unparalleled mountain views. Whether you embark on the whole walk or just explore part of it, it is definitely worthwhile.
