From its eerie termite mounds to its effervescent water holes, as well as the beguiling Lost City, Litchfield encapsulates all of the Northern Territory’s vibrant and wondrous expanse in one incredible national park.

You will be stoked to know that it doesn’t cost a thing to enter Litchfield National Park. The only thing that might set you back a few bucks is a campsite, which can cost as low as $3.30 per adult!

So, as you can see, Litchfield is an inexpensive journey, especially when you consider these incredible experiences that await you in the park:

The swimming spots

Probably Litchfield’s starring attraction is that of its waterholes, where toasty travellers love to get into the cool waters and refresh their senses after a big day’s exploring.

With the Buley Rockhole, Florence Falls, The Cascades, Wangi Falls and more all offering awesome spots to soak up the sun and the water, it ain’t hard to see why Litchfield has become so famous for its natural pools.

Termite mounds

Termites: they’re gross, they’re ugly and you probably don’t want to go anywhere near them, right? That is until you head to Litchfield and find out that they build one of nature’s most surreal sights.

Mound-building termites love Litchfield, and they love nothing more than building their giant homes out of pretty much any substance they can get their legs on (you probably don’t want to touch the mounds…).

The Lost City

You have to hop on a 4WD to visit the Lost City, but what awaits you when you get there is one of Australia’s most enchanting sites. Litchfield’s Lost City is an expansive series of massive sandstone outcrops, numbering somewhere in the thousands.

The site is called the Lost City because its tall stacks resemble that of, you guessed it, a real life city that time forgot. Alas, it’s a natural wonder, and one of Australia’s most incredible at that…

It’s hard to believe they never put a price on all this beauty but, hey, they have not – it’s yours to be enjoyed free of charge – and enjoy you shall!
