When exploring Australia, there is so much to see! From the Great Barrier Reef and Uluru to the Great Ocean Road and the Blue Mountains. However, travelling between each city can be a bit of a challenge, especially when on a low budget. Luckily there are many transport options available, like planes, trains, and buses. But buying tickets for a plane can get expensive and trains don’t go to all parts of Australia. Going by bus is one of the best options to explore Australia.

Bus passes

There are a few different bus passes available in Australia. Greyhound offers many bus passes including the WHIMit pass which allows you to travel around Australia or specifically the East Coast. Premier offers a couple of bus passes on the east coast. Stray Australia has many bus passes available on the east coast, and even offers some fun tours along the east coast.

East coast

There are many buses and tours that go along the east coast of Australia. One of our favourite ones is the Melbourne to Cairns east coast package which takes 19 days. You can select to add a Greyhound Bus Pass that will give you access to use the buses along the way. Start your trip in Melbourne and go to Sydney before going to Byron Bay. Then cross the border to Queensland and go to Brisbane, Rainbow Beach, and Fraser Island. After relaxing on Fraser Island, you go to Airlie Beach and then sail on the boat on the Whitsundays. Lastly, you arrive in Cairns and spend a day snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef. You can also travel from Cairns to Melbourne if you prefer.

West Coast

Like the east coast, there are buses and tours travelling on the west coast. There is a 10 day package from Perth to Adelaide. Starting from Perth, you go to Margaret River, Albany/Stirling Ranges, and Esperance/Cape Le Grand National Park. You will then go to Nullabor Plain, Talia Caves, Lake Newland Sand Dunes, and Baird Bay. Then towards the end of the trip, you go to the Eyre Peninsula, Flinders Ranges and then Adelaide. On this trip, there is enough time to explore each place as you get off the bus.

Top end

The top end of Australia is like nothing else. There is another 10 day package going from Darwin to Broome. Starting your trip in Darwin, you go to Katherine Gorge, Lake Argyle, and Bungle Bungles. Then you go to El Questro Station Gorge, Manning, and Gibb River Road. Coming towards the end of the trip you stop at Bell Gorge, Tunnel Creek/Windjana Gorge, and then Broome. You can do this trip in the reverse direction too. There are also tours available to go to the red desert to see Uluru and Alice Springs.

Best you start booking your bus passes and tour packages! We cannot wait for you to explore some of the best parts of Australia.
