Your tour starts with the compulsory safety briefing. This briefing gives you a comprehensive overview on safety features whilst touring the island along with some useful hints and tips on driving on soft sand. You will then be split into your vehicle groups and get the chance to meet other travellers who will be touring with you.

Due to tide times and changing conditions, the tour itinerary below is a guide but will remain flexible in terms of where you go and on what days. The experience of the lead driver will ensure you get to see the most important and beautiful sights on Fraser Island. You will only set up camp once and travel back to this area every evening so you can sit down, relax with a drink and cook your evening meals without the hassles of having to relocate every time.

Day 1

The morning of departure is a pretty energetic time, with excitement everywhere. You will pack your food into the eskies, alcohol into cool boxes, do a full vehicle inspection including checking all camping and cooking equipment is provided and then do a full driver briefing outlining the most important aspects of driving on soft sand and how to use the gears. Then it’s off you go!!

From Rainbow Beach we take the 20 minute barge ride over to Fraser Island, ready for our first spot of driving along 75 mile beach to Eurong. We make our first stop of the day at Lake McKenzie, where you can enjoy a dip in the pure waters and relax on the snowy white sands. For lunch, we head to Central Station and enjoy a walk along Wanggoolba Creek to learn more about the history and ecology of Fraser Island. In the afternoon, we make our way to the exclusive campsite, where you can enjoy a delicious BBQ around the campfire.

Day 2

We rise nice and early, ready to start exploring the northern end of Fraser Island. Enjoy a natural spa in the bubbly waters of the Champagne Pools then climb Indian Head for 360 degree views over Fraser Island and the ocean. This is the best spot to see marine life including sharks, manta rays, turtles, whales and more. We head back to camp for lunch then make our way to Eli Creek. Enjoy a walk along the boardwalk then relax as you drift downstream in the crystal clear waters on a floating ring.

As the sun creeps towards the horizon, we make a stop at the iconic Maheno Shipwreck for some photos of the skeletal remains of the former ocean liner. Our final stop for the day before we head back to camp is at the Pinnacles. Admire the coloured sands of these impressive sand formations before heading back to chill and eat at camp.

Day 3

On the third day, we set out to make the most of our final day on Fraser Island. After a quick drive to Eastern Beach, we’ll enjoy a peaceful walk along the sand track to Lake Wabby. Enjoy a swim in the emerald green waters of Lake Wabby before we tuck into some lunch on the shore. After lunch, we start to make our way back to Rainbow Beach via the ferry barge. You will arrive back at Rainbow Beach between 1:00 – 4:30pm (depending on tides).

Departs: Fridays from Rainbow Beach

*To drive on Fraser Island, you must be 21 years of age or older.
